A specimen in California is acknowledged as the world's largest living thing. One plant was said to be 3200 years old.
In cultivation, it is quite slow growing, unlikely to reach 4M in the first 10 years.
It is a conical shape when young, but old plants may drop their lower limbs to expose their imposing trunk.
It is suitable for parks and large gardens.
