This is a very rare and spectacular snakebark maple.
With age it develops a graceful weeping habit.
In spring and summer the new growth is pink, cream and white.
The young branchesĀ are a bright pink redĀ colur which are revealed in winter.
Older branches have the green and white striped snake-bark appearance.
The autumn foliage is an attractive bright orange colour.
They require staking in the early years and can grow to 3 metres or so.
